Our groomer, Wilbert Walker, has 25 years of experience. Wilbert is skilled with both shear and clipper blade, as well as dog handling, nail trimming, dematting tools, body washing and blowdrying techniques. Wilbert is an angel of patience and a great canine communicator. Don't be surprised if you hear signing from the grooming room - It's one of Wilbert's techniques to calm down a dog.

Wilbert tries to ensure your dog has a nice day at the salon. Being away from their owners can be stressful for pooches, and not every dog enjoys a good bath and blowout. They might be foot-shy, which makes clipping nails problematic. Head-shy dogs don't like clippers or shears near their faces. It's the groomer's job to help the dog feel comfortable with the process, by using warm water, a gentle but firm hand, and soothing words through the process. Wilbert is a pro at this and dogs who meet him once are always happy to come back for another grooming session.

We groom pets to keep them healthy and livable members of our family. Pet dogs are not like wild dogs... they have been altered by selective breeding and their coats are unlike anything found in the wild. With these designer coats comes the burden of coat care and as guardians of these domestic breeds, it is up to us to make sure that these coats are kept in the best condition possible.

It's all part of loving your pet. Dogs come into our lives and join our "pack", our family unit, but like children, they cannot care for themselves and it is up to us as "Leader of the pack" to make sure that their needs are met in all areas of nutrition, comfort, and hygiene.

Unfortunately, many people don't see dogs as family members... they see them more as objects... toys, and don't realize exactly how much care actually goes into caring for these cute fluffy pups and since dogs can't speak for themselves, much neglect and abuse happens. I have seen coats so matted up that the dogs limbs were actually blue and cold from lack of circulation, tips of ears rotting off because the ears were matted and wet for too long a time, matted hair cuts off air circulation to the skin and can cause lesions which attract flys and maggots... would you want something like that sitting on your sofa? I don't think so.

Dogs and cats are living, breathing creatures with feelings and souls...they do not speak our language and do not know how to speak up for themselves but they put their whole trust in us as their family members to take good care of them.
